Over the last few years that I have visited newquay, there has always been a shop I like to drop by and have a chat. In the past its been Chris Jones old school shop that was always worth a visit & a natter. Recently I've been popping into Will Eastmans shop Surfboardsuk.

I first came across Will at the Saltburn open in 2000, were I came 3rd in the Rooky division and Will won the Longboard Division. Will beat the Ledgend that is Garry Rogers (a very rare home break defeat) in the final with some amazing nose riding and progressive moves. At the time Will was European Longboard Champ. He still compeats competitively in the British Long Board Union, winning a couple of rounds this year.

Will is currently experiementing with different materials and stringer configurations. If you pop into the shop, check out the Carbon fibre tow board.

The last time I went in I borrowed his comp longboard, which blow my mind at head high + Fistral. I liked it so much I got a similar board shaped (can't miss it, its got SUK WE on the deck!).

Will also provides a board repair service (one week turn round).

In the last month CLive & Jonno have brough 2nd hand boards from Surfboardsuk. It looking like Bristol surf clubs 2010 surf shop of choice (don't all go at once, its a bit small).

So if you are in the area check out the shop and support UK shapers:

The guy who runs it is a super nice bloke and knows his boards backwards and inside out! Steve and I both had a crack on Pete's WE SUK and got on with it straight away despite the slightly small surf! Well worth a vist and a chat, though he's on a surf holiday until mid April.
